10/ 7/2023 ,Monday
Today I reached the school at 9 am and reported. As per the time table l had no classes today. I had substitution class at 6B on the
2 nd hr. I managed the class. It was fun to spend time with them. They were curious to participate in group activities. We played a game based on English vocabulary teamwise. As the game progresses they were very active and sudden responses were came from them. The scores of the team motivates them to find more words from their memory. It was fun and informative. They can recollect and insert new words into the memory.
Class experiences
I had to take class at 9C on the 3rd and 4th hr. I taught them the chapter "Forces in fluids" on the topic "viscosity".My class was observed by my physics teacher Susha in the school. I used the technique of Think-Pair- Share to teach them. They obeyed my instructions and paired up. All of them were actively participated in it. I felt that by using this technique is more effective as there are two students as small groups. So they are comfortable to share their ideas with each other. Also it was engaging.
I took a glass plate and pour water, kerosene, honey and glycerine at the same point at the same time and tilted it. Then students form pairs and discuss and share it with the whole class. Activity cards are filled groupwise and they are able to understand mobile liquids and viscous liquids. Another experiment to show how temperature affects viscosity was conducted. Two test tube having honey and other with heated honey is taken and students are asked to observe it's flow. Thus they attain the conclusion that temperature is inversely proportional to viscosity.
At 12:20 pm we served the meal and had food. I went to 8A to observe the class of Akhila. Then l went to 8D on the 6th hr and managed the class. A student from 9B was taken to hospital due to some health problems. A boy from 5E fell down and had a head injury which is dressed by teachers but still bleeding never stops. He was also taken to the hospital.
Today didn't seem like a good day with two hospital cases. I can't forget the flow of blood from that little head😢.
At 3:30 pm National Anthem was sang. We left the school at 3:40 pm after the students left the class.
11/7/2023 ,Tuesday
Today I reached the school at 9 am. We signed the register. I had classes at 8F on the 1st hr.
Class Experiences
I taught them the topic of "Calculation of distance and displacement" from the chapter Motion. I used the technique of Jigsaw to conduct group activities. The students are grouped with four members and given an activity chart to them. They have to complete it with the figure drawn in the blackboard. After the active participation and discussion of each groups, they complete the table correctly. Then they share their conclusions and ideas to each members of their home group. It makes them aware of the concept deeply with mutual team work. They can make the complete picture of the concept by joining the pieces of information from each of them. For more understanding l asked some questions and got positive responses from them.
Today Indu tr(Malayalam) and Reshma tr (Maths) from our college reached the school for observation. At 12:20 pm we served the meal and had lunch along with the teachers. I signed the register and went to staffroom for signing the lesson plan. I and Susha tr went to 8th classes for taking the list of students who want to be a member of the science club. Also informed them about the meeting of science club tomorrow at 12:50 pm. I witnessed the practice of shuttle including Viswam sir (PT) in auditorium. On the 7th hr l and Sruthy had taken the students of 9F to the library. We also read books there. Kala tr asked me to sign the register. Then l went to 8F and informed them about the testpaper. I had exam duty on 10 D.
We left the school at 3:40 pm after the National Anthem.
12/7/2023, Wednesday
I reached the school at 9am and reported. There is an assembly held at the school auditorium. All of the students with uniform line up. At sharp 9:30 am itself the prayer (Hridayaraga) started.Pledge was conducted and news was read by them. Prizes were distributed for SPC cadets for their performance.
Class experiences
I had classes at 9C on the 3rd hr. My class was observed by Viji tr from our college SNTC Nedunganda. I used 5E model for teaching Pascal's law. Using ICT l bring their attention to the class. Experiments with a tooth paste, potassium permanganate solution , syringe etc were done along with the cooperation of students. A chart was displayed and read by them. Hydraulic jack is drawn in the blackboard. Applications of Pascal's law was explained. I was able to deliver the content effectively to the class.
At 12:20 pm food was served. We had lunch and signed the register. I had substitution classes at 5A on the 5th and 6th hr. Then l had 7B on the 7th hr. We played some games.
We left the school at 3:40 pm.
13/7/2023,Thursday
I reached the school at 9 am and reported. After the prayer l went to conduct exams at 10D with the instruction of Smitha tr. They had the unit test of Chemistry from 9:30 am to 10:50 am. After collecting answer sheets l went to staffroom for getting sign on lesson plan.
Class Experiences
I had classes at 8F on the 3rd hr. I taught them about "Speed and Velocity" using 5E model. Using ICT, l started the engaging phase. It was effective. Activity cards are filled by them. They actively participated in it and explains their inferences. All the questions related to the activity chart are well explained by them.
At 12:20 pm we served the meal. Then we had our food and signed the register. I and Sruthy went to 9F and distributed their answer sheets. Some students in my class 8F approached me for the materials to take a trial on the experiments that should be conducted in the science club. So l went to staffroom for permission but due to admission work tr told me to do the experiments on the next day. Then the students (Salma, Nazriya, Raihana, Amina) from 8F asked me about the experiments and we had a discussion about that. We choose to conduct the experiment of hydrogen balloon. So we discussed about how to conduct it, materials needed etc.
On the 6th hr l managed 8D.Also l gave them a tool of Amina for the project work. I explained it and they marked their responses.
We left the school at 3:40 pm after National Anthem.
14/7/2023 ,Friday
I reached the school at 9 am and reported. After the prayer at 9:30 am we went to our classes. Jayasree tr gave us sweets. Smitha tr was absent today. Also Lekha tr was absent and so l went to 9C on the 3rd and 4th period.
Class experiences
On the 3rd period, we discussed the follow up activities only. They have no idea about how to divide the numbers with decimals. So l explained each steps in detail and gave them more problems of decimals to work out. Thus they became aware about how to solve it and they do it correctly. Some of the boys were punished due to misbehavior in the class.
On the 4th period l started the new lesson " Equations of motion ". The basics of the lesson including distance, displacement, velocity, acceleration, time, position etc were discussed. They participated in the experiments. Also the first equation of motion is derived from it.
At 12:20 pm we served the meal. We had our food and signed the register. After that Abhinav from 10 C bring a Bluetooth speaker made from waste materials and we played the music. He made it for science club and l kept it safely in our room with the instruction of Susha tr. With permission l opened the lab for 8F students to conduct experiment. The materials for experiment such as dilute acid, flask, balloon, Zn metal etc were picked up. We don't get good reaction with dilute acid so we repeated the experiment by diluting concentrated acid. We get good results and our teachers agreed to conduct it. Then we cleaned the lab. Susha tr asked me to take a student to the tinkering lab. He went to Gotec (Global opportunities through English Communication) exam and was not able to go with other students. There is a special class for the students in tinkering lab today.
I had classes at 9C on the 6th hr and taught them the basics of graph. I bring graph paper and distributed to all benches. Then origin, x axis, y axis etc were explained.
Also through an activity of competitions and participants in it from their classes, they have drawn the graph of it with my instruction. The graph is plotted in the blackboard and summarises. The graph of the birthdays of their friends monthwise is given as the follow up.
Then l had to correct the notebooks of 9C.Also the answer sheets of 8F were corrected. Then the school time was over at 3:45 pm as it's Friday. We left the school at 3:55pm.
